Blepharoplasty
Every year, 100,000 men and women in the US choose eyelid lift to improve the way they look. “Droopy” eyelids can make you look older and can also impair vision. Blepharoplasty corrects these problems and also removes puffiness and bags under the eyes that make you look worn and tired.
Blepharoplasty removes excess fat, muscle, and skin from both upper and lower lids, refreshing the eye area with a younger, firmer appearance.
Three Approaches to Eyelid Surgery
Upper Eyelid Surgery
Incisions follow the natural lid crease to keep scars invisible. Excess fat, muscle, and loose skin are removed and closed with fine sutures.
Lower Eyelid Surgery
The incision sits along the lashline and smile crease. Excess fat, muscle, and skin are trimmed before closing with fine sutures.
Asian (Double Eyelid)
Creates a defined upper lid crease for a more open, alert appearance and a better platform for eye makeup. Techniques vary in invasiveness and permanency.
Consultation Through Recovery
Consultation with Dr. Hsu
You'll be examined and asked about vision, tear production, and your goals. Dr. Hsu takes a complete medical history, weighing age, skin type, ethnic background, and degree of vision obstruction to build a shared plan.
The Surgery
Lid lines and creases are marked to keep scars along natural folds, excess tissue is removed, and incisions are closed with fine, often self-dissolving, sutures. Combined upper and lower blepharoplasty takes about two hours.
Recovery & Aftercare
Some swelling and bruising is normal; cold compresses and head elevation help. Eyedrops or ointment may be recommended for about a week and a half, with stitches removed in seven to ten days.
